World Trade Center Compensation Fund:
world trade center compensation fund - The World Trade Center Compensation Fund was established in 2002 by an act of Congress to provide financial assistance to individuals and businesses affected by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The fund provides grants and loan guarantees to eligible businesses and individuals, as well as direct financial assistance to those who suffered material loss as a result of the attacks. The fund also helps support the rebuilding of Lower Manhattan.
The fund is administered by the United States Department of Justice. Eligible applicants include owners and renters of commercial, residential, and public properties located in Lower Manhattan and individual victims who are either U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
